Mrs. John Klieforth was called to the other shore last Saturday noon. The funeral was held Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran church, and burial was at Clayton Center.

Sophia Marie Wilhelmina Guesmer* was born the 16th day of January, 1840 in Woebbelin, Mecklenburg Schwerin, Germany. She was the daughter of Johann Joachim Christoph Guesmer and his wife Catharina Marie Sophia, nee [Jag or Gag].
She was baptized the 19th of January, 1840, and was married to John Kliefoth in 1868.
They came to America in 1872 and settled in Clayton county, living on farms in Farmersburg, Wagner and Monona townships.
In 1901 they moved to Farmersburg where they lived ever since. This union was blessed with five children, four of whom are alive, one died at the age of 1 1/2 years. The remaining are: Fritz of Monona; John and Henry of Monona township; and Mrs. Fritz Funk of Monona.
Her health had been failing all of last summer, contracting stomach trouble. She died at her home Saturday, Jan. 4, at the ripe age of 78 years, 11 months and 18 days.
She leaves besides her aged husband and children, 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held from Farmersburg on Tuesday. Interment took place at Clayton Center, Rev. G. F. Braun officiating.
Note: Death certificate gives mothers maiden name as Jag or Gag (handwriting difficult to read) and Sophia's maiden name as Gussmarks.
