Miss Ida Adler was born Aug. 2nd, 1852, in Stetten, Germany. She, with her parents, brothers and sister, came to Elkport, Iowa, in 1870, where she resided until death. In 1872 she was united in marriage with John Bals, with whom she has faithfully shared all joys and sorrows for 41 years. To this union were born five children, four daughters and one son, two of whom have preceded her in death.

After an illness of about three months she was called to her heavenly home on Friday morning, Oct. 10th, her age being 61 years, two months and 8 days. She leaves to mourn, a husband, three daughters, three sisters, one brother and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Foelsch officiating.

The departed will be sadly missed by her family as a devoted and loving wife and mother, by her church as a faithful and active member and by the entire community as a loyal friend and citizen.
