The funeral of Mrs. Pahlas, the aged mother of Mrs. Wm. Kahlbaum, was held here last Saturday. The deceased was born in Germany more than 83 years ago and had therefore reached the age when mortal man is content to lay down the burden of life. She was united in marriage to George Pahlas, who died in 1892, and since that time she has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Kahlbaum, in whose family she always received the most tender care. Her health was unusually good during her old age, she having failed but a week. Besides the above named daughter she is survived by another child, Mrs. Herman Mueller. Thirteen grandchildren also mourn her departure. The funeral was largely attended, Rev. Bosholm officiating.
(Note: WPA records show Friedricka Pahlas, 1831 - 1913, as buried in the Clayton Center Cemetery.)
