Paul Carl Herman William Weger, youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. M. Weger, was born October 12, 1894, on a farm between here and St. Sebald. He always took great interest in electricity and electrical appliances and on this account went to Oelwein, where he took practical instruction in the electrical department of the railroad shops of that city. A little over a year ago he accepted a position as assistant in the local plant, which position he efficiently filled until a few days prior to his death. Paul had not been feeling well for some time, often complaining of a severe headache and backache. He didn't give up his duties, however, until after he had completed his services Sunday night. He said afterwards that it seemed like he couldn't stand it until time for the lights to go out and just before he died he kept repeating "I must stay until time to turn off the lights." and on Monday morning October 6th, just a few minutes after the lights went out he passed to his reward in the great beyond. A doctor was called Monday morning and at first was unable to tell the nature of the disease from which he was suffering. Later he pronounced it to be infantile paralysis. A doctor from Iowa City and one from Dubuque were called and they both confirmed the local doctor's statement and all agreed that there was not much hopes of his recovery. He was 18 years, 11 months and 24 days old. He leaves to mourn his loss besides his parents, two sisters, Martha and Anna, one brother, Otto, and an adopted sister, Mrs. Ada Wilson Charboneau, who lives in Chicago. The funeral services were held in the Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. Graf, assisted by Rev. Remboldt, of Lamont. Burial took place in the Strawberry Point Cemetery.
