Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 5 June 1913. Local News columns.

The death of Ralph C. Hale occurred at 12:30 a.m., Wednesday after a severe illness of about a week, a compilation of brain and spinal trouble. It was one of those cases that puzzle and baffle medical skill, but it is believed that the trouble was caused by an injury at the base of the brain from a severe fall which Ralph had about two weeks ago.

He was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Hale and was born in Elkader May 10th, 1894. He grew to manhood here, graduating from the Elkader High School with the class of 1908. For several years his health has not been good and in February 1912 he entered the Palmer Chiropractic Institute at Davenport to take the course there and also in the hope that the treatments he would receive would benefit his health. He graduated from that institution of Feb. 11th of this year with high standings and came home to rest a short time before beginning the active practice of his profession.

Ralph was a young man of good morals and habits, with a cheery disposition and a fund of humor that manifested itself in spite of many discouragements. He was popular with a wide circle, both young and old, who will miss and mourn him, but his death is a crushing blow to his parents, who have made every sacrifice to aid him in regaining his health and in furthering his ambitions, and to his only sister Grace. The deepest sympathy of all goes out to them in their grief. May the thought that they have made every effort possible and an abiding faith in the wisdom and goodness and mercy of our Heavenly Father bring them the consolation they need.

The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 from the house and at 2:00 o'clock at the Congregational church.
