James Farmer, one of the well known engineers on the Milwaukee road, was killed last Friday night on the pontoon bridge between North McGregor and Prairie du Chien. After switching ice trains all day he had taken his engine to the roundhouse at North McGregor and started back to his home on a railroad tricycle. It is supposed he was caught by a train on the bridge, for his body, horribly mangled and frozen stiff, was found Saturday morning on ice fifteen feet below. He leaves a wife and six children.
