Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 22 May 1913. Giard column.

Mrs. Elizabeth Bernhard, a former resident of this place, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. P. Schlein at Pearl City, Ill., Thursday, May 15th, aged 74 years and eleven months. The remains were brought here for burial. The funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church Sunday morning. She leaves to mourn her death two daughters, Mrs. W. P. Schlein, of Pearl City, and Mrs. Louis Brenner, of Charles City, and three grandchildren, besides a large circle of other relatives and friends.

Note: w/o John, they are buried in Council Hill cemetery. The dates on her stone are 1838-1913
