A dispatch to the NEWS Monday from James J. Lane of Chicago conveyed the news to us of the death of John Cowley in an automobile accident at Plainview, Texas.

He was forty seven years of age and was the oldest son of Mr. Thomas Cowley at Des Moines. The Cowley family were formerly residents of Volga City, leaving here twenty years ago, and the deceased received his education in the local schools.

According to word received here funeral services were to have been held yesterday and burial will likely be at Strawberry Point.

Thomas Cowley is an uncle of Mr. Lane.
