In 1853 she was united in marriage to Karl E__chlegel and after her husband's death settled at Ashland, Pa., where she was again united in marriage to Anton Marfilius, in 1856, making their home at this place until 1867, then moving to Crawford County, Wis., near Bridgeport.

In 1881 her husband preceded her in death. In 1889 she moved to Wauzeka, Wis., and since 1898 made her home with her son Chas., near Farmersburg, Ia., and the last three weeks at Froelich, Ia., where mother love made the evening of her life a blessed one.

She was the mother of eight children. Three sons preceded her to the home beyond, the remaining being: Mrs. Henry Schultz, of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; Chas., of Froelich, Ia.; Louis, of Bridgeport, Wis.; August, of Boscobel, Wis.; and Mrs. Wm. Scheppard, of Luana, Ia., with twenty-six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, one brother and two sisters, and a host of friends to mourn her departure.

Brief funeral services were held at the home and at the Evangelical church near Froelich, of which she was a member, on Wednesday, April 2nd. The remains were taken to Bridgeport, Wis., for burial, there to await the resurrection morn.
