Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 3 Apr. 1913.
Luke Donlon, who was buried in Elkader Tuesday morning, was born in Ireland, 72 years ago. He came to this country when a small boy and made his home for years in Litchbury, Mass. Seven years ago Mrs. P. Donlon brought him to Dubuque and placed him in the Home of the Aged, conducted by the Sisters of Mercy. His health had failed so that he was unable to care for himself or do any labor. He was one of a family of thirteen children and is the last of that generation. Mr. Donlon was never married. He was an expert worker in the woolen mills and for long years was superintendent of the mills of his city.
He died at the Sanitarium in Dubuque on March 29th. His remains were shipped to Elkader for burial in the family lot of the Donlons. Father Luke Donlon, his namesake, accompanied the remains to this city and had charge of the funeral services, which were largely attended by relatives and friends of the family.
