Mrs. Emma Bertha Wilhelmina Harnack, daughter of Mr. Carl Ihde, was born October 21st, 1887, at Clayton Center, Ia., in the year 1901, was confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Rev. Seifert. She was united in marriage to H. C. Harnack Dec. 21st, 1905. This union was blessed with two children, the youngest, a daughter, being born on Jan. 26th.
Being a victim of the dreaded disease consumption, she gradually grew weaker and at 12:15 p.m., on Feb. 5th, she passed away at the age of 25 years, 3 months and 14 days. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, two small children, her father, one brother and one sister, and many other relatives and friends. Short services were held at the house at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, conducted by Rev. Theo Gutzlaff. Funeral services were also held at Garnavillo, conducted by Rev. Wm. Braun. Burial in Garnavillo cemetery.
