Mary Niederfrank, (born Nieman) born in Cincinatti, Ohio, Nov. 2, 1847, was reared in the Lutheran church. She removed, with her parents to Guttenberg, Clayton County, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. In the autumn of 1865 she was married to C. H. Niederfrank. In the spring of 1866 they removed to Delaware County, Iowa, and settled on a farm near Earlville. In the fall of 1899 they removed to a farm near Greeley, Iowa, where they resided until 1901, when they retired from active life and settled in Strawberry Point, Iowa, where they have since resided. She was taken with pneumonia January 21st, and on January 25th her spirit took its flight. She leaves to mourn, her husband C. H. Niederfrank, two brothers and a sister, Henry and William Nieman, of Earlville, Iowa, and Mrs. Eliza Storek, of Van Meter, Iowa; and nine children, one, Mrs. Louise Schenke, having preceded her to the better world, Mrs. F. W. Merten, step-daughter, Garner, Iowa; Louis, Earlville, Ia.; Mrs. E. J. Hayer, New Hampton, Ia.; Edward, Greeley, Ia.; Emma, Hannah, Mrs. F. C. Lundt, Ida and Mamie, of Strawberry Point, Ia.; also a number of of grandchildren and other relatives. The funeral occurred on Tuesday, January 28th, from the Lutheran church, her pastor, Rev. G. A. Graf, conducting the services. Rev. Remboldt of Arlington, gave an address in the English language. The body was laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery at Strawberry Point, Ia.
