Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 06 Feb. 1913. Littleport column.

Mrs. Fred Meese, whose maiden name was Dorothy Struberg, and of whose death we mentioned briefly in a late issue, was born in Germany on March 16th, 1849. In 1871 she married Fred Meese, at Rochester, New Yorkk, and to this union were born nine chiidren, seven of whom are dead. Those surviving are Wm. and Edward, both residing at Littleport.

She resided seven years at Rochester and the family then moved to High Point, Mo., where they resided three years prior to coming to Littleport, which they did in 1881. Since then they have resided on a farm south of town, where on Jan. 25th of the present year she died. Mrs. Meese was one of those women who always had a kind word for her neighbors and who was a kind and loving wife and mother, devoting her entire time and energies for those whom she loved in her quiet, expressive way. Her death will be felt most keenly by those whom she has left, as well as by a large circle of friends, who extend the sorrowing ones their heartfelt sympathy. She was buried in the cemetery south of town, followed there by a large crowd of friends and neighbors.
