About 2:30 Thursday afternoon, Sept. 5th, 1907, occurred the death of Amanda, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lenth, of Elkader, after an illness of about one week with brain fever. She was born in Read twp. Dec. 31st, 1901, and was nearly six years old. Mandy, as she was called, was a bright, active child, a general favorite of those who knew her and the great pride of her parents, who are nearly heart-broken over their loss.

We deeply sympathize with them in their grief.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. F. Leonhard, at the German church, and was largely attended by the sorrowing friends of the family. The precious white casket was borne by four little girls. There were many floral tributes.
