Elkader Register, Thur., 12 Sept. 1907.
Leonora Denton Welch was born in Henryville, Canada East, Oct. 25th, 1827, and died in Volga Sept. 8th, 1907. She was united in marriage to Edward D. Welch Jan. 3rd, 1847, in Noyan Scenery, Canada East. They moved to Naperville, Ill., where they resided until 1854, when they moved to Volga, where they resided until eight years ago, when her husband preceded her to the better world. They were the parents of five children, three of whom, Willie E., Nellie A., and John D. have passed on before. Two daughters, Lucy Boynton and Judith Hawthorne are still living, who, with three sisters, one brother and twelve grandchildren, are left to mourn the loss of an affectionate mother, sister and grandmother, who with patience and kindness has guarded and guided their way. She has been a long and patient sufferer. During her last hours she said to those around her that she would like to stay for their sake, but the Lord had called her and she prayed that he would soon take her home. She then bid them all goodbye, saying she must go now, and then passed away.
