Elkader Register, Thur., 15 Aug. 1907. Local News columns.

The first of the week the sad news was received of the death of George J. Hochhaus, at Sch_wanah, Wash., on July 29th, 1907, after a short illness of typhoid fever. Deceased was born in the home farm in Cox Creek, April 28th, 1869, and was in his 39th year. He is survived by three brothers, Richard B. and Reinhold A., of Alma, Kans., and Frank, of this township, and three sisters, Mrs. Wm. Bauer, of Dubuque, Mrs. Henry Brust, of Communia, and Mrs. Chas. Peick, of Cox Creek. It is only a few months ago that George went to Washington to work as a carpenter and we can hardly realize that he has passed away. He was an active, industrious young man, well thought of by all who knew him.
