Elkader Register, Thur., 16 May 1907. Garnavillo column. From a Kendallville, Ind., newspaper, undated.
The following was taken from the Kendallville, Ind., paper:
The circumstances attending the death of Mrs. Henrietta Sidel*, wife of Charles Sidel, 320 North East Street, which occurred at eleven o'clock last night, made it one of the saddest deaths which has ever occurred in this city. Last week Mr. Sidel was called to Clayton county, Iowa, by the death of his sister, and when he left home his wife was feeling as well as common, although she had been afflicted with stomach trouble all winter. During the recent cold weather, however, she caught cold, and yesterday morning the cold was so bad that they called Dr. Williams, who saw that her condition was critical, though she was up and around the house. He told Mrs. Sidel that she should not attempt to sit up, and during the day made several visits, but her condition grew rapidly worse and acute congestion of the lungs set in, which resulted in her death at the hour stated. A message was sent to the absent husband during the afternoon, and another immediately after her death, and he arrived in the city this evening.
