The remains of Mrs. Clouse were brought here from Independence, Thursday last, and taken to Garnavillo for burial. Having been a resident of this place for many years she leaves a large circle of friends who extend to the husband and children sincere sympathy.

Mary Auer was born June 23, 1849, at Filshoven, Germany. At the age of five she came to America with her parents.
In 1865 she was wedded to Louis Clause and resided in Clayton until three years ago, when she became a sufferer of nervous trouble and it was necessary to remove her to the hospital where she died May 8th.
Funeral services occurred at St. Joseph's Catholic church and were conducted by Rev. Raedler. Deceased was laid to rest in the Garnavillo Catholic cemetery beside her parents and her sister, Mrs. Krauel.
She is survived by her aged husband, four children, viz: Mrs. Anna Macker, of Dubuque; Oscar J., of Garnavillo; Mrs. Alma Carrier, of Garnavillo twp.; and Louis, of Dubuque, also three brothers and two sisters.
