Elkader Register, Thur., 16 May 1907. Littleport column.
The friends of Chas. Waterman were shocked Saturday by the report that he had been killed at Waterloo. Later reports conferred the sad story stating he had met death while trying to get aboard a moving train while on his way home to dinner. He had been married only about three weeks, which makes his untimely taking away all the more sorrowful. The mother, wife and family have the entire sympathy of their many friends hereabouts.

Elkader Register, Thur., 16 May 1907. Elkport and Vicinity column.
It becomes our sad duty to chronicle the sad and sudden death of George F. Waterman, which occurred at Waterloo, Iowa, Saturday, May 11th, while he was attempting to board a moving train at the noon hour on his way home to dinner. He lost his hold and rolled under the wheels, which passed over his head, crushing his life out, while at his home his bride of less than three weeks was preparing the noon day meal, for which it was destined he should not partake of. He went to Waterloo last January and began work in the Litchfield factories. On April 23rd ult. he was united in marriage to Miss Josie McMorrow. George was only a little over 23 years old at the time of his death, being born February 21st, 1884. He leaves a mother, two brothers and eight sisters, besides his widow, to mourn his untimely death. The funeral services were held Tuesday forenoon at 10 o'clock at the Catholic church, Rev. Minogue officiating.
Note: burial is in St. Michael's Catholic cemetery - Elkport
