Lou Siegele, 78, Funeral Tuesday
Passes Away Saturday After Lingering Illness; Retired FarmerFuneral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home for Louis L. Siegele, 78, who died Saturday following several months of failing health.
The Rev. Glen McMichael, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated. Interment was made in Pleasant Grove cemetery.
Mr. Siegele was a native of Clayton county, having been born November 12, 1860, at Sni Magill where his father, John Siegele, operated a pioneer water grist mill on the creek.
In his youth Mr. Siegele worked in his father's mill. After his marriage October 7th, 1885 to Miss Clara Foley of Farmersburg township, he bought a farm three miles from McGregor.
They lived there until ten years ago when Mr. Siegele retired and moved to McGregor.
Survivors are his widow, three son, Carl F., Walter L., and John T., all of Mcgregor; three daughters, Mrs. Mabel E. Henkes, of Farmersburg, Mrs. Amy K. Hansen of Waterloo, and Mrs. Ruth E. Hansen of Denver, Colorado; one brother, Fred A. Siegele of McGregor, thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The pallbearers were nephews of Mr. Siegele, Fred, Harry and Alfred Siegele, Will, Leslie and Earl Davies.
Relatives from out of town were Mrs. Sarah Siegele and Clark Bishop of Emmetsburg, Iowa. Mrs. Anna Weller, of Emporia, Kansas, and Mrs. Rose Sanger and daughter of Monona. All the children were here for the funeral.
