Services for Mrs. Clara Siegele, 82, lifetime resident of Clayton county, who died at her home in McGregor Saturday, were held here Tuesday. A private service at the Pilkington Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. was followed by a public service at the Methodist church at two o'clock, the Rev. E.H. Shuey officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove cemetery.
She was born Clara Foley, the daughter of Timothy and Malilnda Foley, on April 20, 1863, on a farm near Farmersburg.
On October 7, 1896 she was married to Louis Siegele at Farmersburg. He preceded her in death on June 24, 1939, in the 53rd year of their married life, the most of which had been spent on a farm near McGregor. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Gayle, who passed away June 23, 1926, and a son Glen, who died October 9, 1902.
Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Arthur Henkes, Farmersburg; Mrs. N.P. Hanson, Fresno, Calif., and Mrs. F.B. Hanson, Denver, Colo; three sons, Carl and John of McGregor, and Walter of Waukon; two sisters, Mrs. Avis Schneider, Twin Falls, Idaho; and Mrs. Mae Arnold, Manson, Iowa; and one brother Carrol Foley, Stanley, Idaho.

An obituary that appears in the Clayton County Register, 03 Jan. 1946, is nearly identical except that the marriage date is given as October 07, 1886.
