FOLEY, FRANCIS, FRANCES

Malinda Katherine Francis was born in Clayton Co. Iowa, July the 3rd, 1844. She was married to T.S. Foley, Jan. 11th, 1860. There was born of this union eight children, four boys and four girls . One son has passed on to his reward. Mrs. Foley with her husband, spent most of her life in Clayton Co., Iowa, moving to Garner in Feb. 1903. By her quiet and Christ-like disposition she endeared herself to a large circle of friends, as one said the other morning "She is a mother to the whole neighborhood." She was a consecreated member to the church for over thirty years and who can tell the good accomplished in that only the Judge into whose presence she was so suddenly called. Though sudden, she was ready for the summons and she being dead yet speaketh.

Her works do follow her and it may be truthfully said, She was a good woman and filled with the Holy Spirit.

The sympathy of the community goes out to the aged husband and father at so suddenly meeting such a loss. And no less sympathy is felt for the children who are called to part with a loving mother. They have great consolation however in the fact of her pure upright Christian character. Last Sabbath afternoon while alone reading as was her custom, in a moment in the twinkling of an eye her spirit took it flight.

She leaves a husband, who is in Texas on account of health and who was looking forward in a couple of months, to the time when she should go to him, and seven children to mourn her loss.

Our loss is her gain

Servant of God well done

Rest be thy love'd employ

And while eternal ages run

Rest in the Master's joy

Garner Signal June 6, 1906
