Mrs. Fred Ernst died Wednesday morning at her home in Elgin, after a short illness, at the age of about 74 years. Elizabeth Klingman was born in Baden, Germany, in July, 1833, and in 1852, with her father and two brothers, Louis and Martin, came to this country. They settled near Thompson, Geauga county, Ohio. At that place in 1854 she was united in marriage with Fred Ernst, and in 1856 they came to Clayton county and settled on a farm in Highland twp., where they resided until a few years ago, when they moved to Elgin.

To Mr. and Mrs. Ernst nine children were born, of these only two, a son Fred residing in Illyria township, and a daughter, Mrs. John D. Layton, with the aged and infirm husband, and two brothers, Louis Klingman, of Highland twp., and Martin Klingman, of Elkader, survive to mourn her loss.

The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock, at her late home in Elgin. We presume the interment will be in Illyria cemetery.
