So one of our brightest young men has left us for the better world. A boy with an untarnished name, beloved by all who knew him. A bright scholar, a good student, and whose conduct both in and out of school was an example for all to follow. The pall bearers were eight of his school mates and the class attended the funeral in a body. Martin was the youngest of nine children. He leaves to mourn for him a father and mother, four brothers, Michael, of Volga, Patrick, Joseph and Edward, of Chicago, Thomas, of Elkader, and three sisters, Mrs. Peter Feeney and Mrs. Will Roach, of Boardman twp., and Ella, of Volga.
