Martin Hannon was born in Boardman township, Clayton county, Iowa, June 18th, 1880, and died in Chicago on Feb. 22, 1907. He was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Hannon. The remains were brought to Volga on Monday accompanied by his mother and Mrs. M. Lane, his aunt, and Patrick, Jos. and Ed, his brothers of Chicago, and his uncle, M. O'Niel, of Savanna. The funeral was held on Tuesday at the Sacred Heart church at Volga. Father Hetherington, of Volga, and Father Riley, of Elkader, officiating, burial in Sacred Heart cemetery, at Volga. So one of our brightest young men has left us for the better world. A boy with an untarnished name, beloved by all who knew him. A bright scholar, a good student, and whose conduct both in and out of school was an example for all to follow. The pall bearers were eight of his school mates and the class attended the funeral in a body. Martin was the youngest of nine children. He leaves to mourn for him a father and mother, four brothers, Michael, of Volga, Patrick, Joseph and Edward, of Chicago, Thomas, of Elkader, and three sisters, Mrs. Peter Feeney and Mrs. Will Roach, of Boardman twp., and Ella, of Volga.
