George Alvia Randall was born near Strawberry Point, Iowa, June 23, 1860, died July 10, 1912, aged 52 years and 17 days.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, three sons and three daughters, all of whom were at his bedside during his last illness.
He was married July 11, 1883, to Elnora Marshall. To this union were born 8 children, one dying in infancy; Floyd, who died Dec. 1909; Belva Elkins, of Edgewood; Anson B., Emmet A., Pansy, Myrtle and Marshall, all of whom resided at home.
July 3, while assisting in putting hay in the barn, he fell breaking his left arm and injuring himself in other ways severely. Dr. Brown of Littleport, was called who dressed his wounds and thinking his case quite serious called a trained nurse from Dubuque to care for him. He seemed to be getting along real well until the following Tuesday he was taken suddenly worse. Dr. Brown was called and also Dr. F.H. Howard, but blood poison with lock jaw had set in and in spite of all medical skill and loving hands could do, he died the following morning.
George's life was a home life. His whole life was spent in Pleasant Valley a beautiful spot where snuggled among the hills, he, with his wife, built their home, rude at first, but each year planning something better until even at death the material was on the ground for a new barn and the place showed, to any who might look, a prosperous, pleasant home.
He was a kind, loving husband, a just father, an obliging neighbor and above all "An honest man". The noblest work of God.
The funeral services were held at the residence, conducted by Rev. C.H. True, of Edgewood, and he was laid to rest in the Cox Creek cemetery by the M.W.A. of which he was a member.
