Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 24 Feb. 1916. Guttenberg column.
On Tuesday, February 15th, 1916, at the home of his parents, Dr. and Mrs. A. E. Beyer, in this city, occurred the death of Morse Edwin Beyer, after a short illness with double pneumonia. He was born at Guttenberg, Iowa, on March 9th, 1912, and therefore was 3 years, 11 months and 6 days of age at the time of his death. He was a kind and loving child and will be sadly missed in the home, and also by his many relatives and friends and little playmates. Besides his parents, his grandparents and a large number of relatives and friends deeply mourn his untimely death. All that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest was done for him to ward off death, but all to no avail. Besides having the tender care of loved ones at home, Drs. Harris and Keough, of Dubuque, also cared for him during his illness. The Misses Crain, of Dubuque, and Uriell, of Elkader, trained nurses, were also at his bedside during his illness, but all failed, and he passed away on Tuesday morning at 11:15 o'clock. He had the measles and had about recovered from them when double pneumonia set in, which was the cause of his death. A private funeral was held Friday.
