Henry George Wm. Wedemeyer, an old and respected pioneer of Read township, died at his home in Clayton Center, Friday, after a lingering illness. He was born October 2nd, 1836, in Hanover, Germany, came to this country in 1864, with his parents and found their home in Clayton Center. He was united in marriage to Miss Marie Stade in 1869. To them were born five children, one son dying at the age of five years. He is survived by his wife, three daughters: Mrs. Anton Grones, of Holstein, Iowa; Mrs. August Kerrig, of Holstein, Iowa; Mrs. E. W. Radach, of Clayton Center; one son, Charles, residing at Davenport; five grandchildren; two brothers, August and Charles, of Nashua, Iowa, and one sister residing in Oregon. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon, Rev. Athenstadt conducting the services. May he rest in peace.
