On Friday morning, January 7th, 1916, at 6:45 o'clock, Mrs. Magdalena Pelzer, nee Kirch, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bernard J. Leliefeld, in this city, after a few weeks illness, at the age of 70 years, 5 months and 19 days. Deceased was born in Bodenheim, Germany, on July 18th, 1845, and when eleven years of age she came with parents to the United States, the family settling at Galena, Ill. When fourteen years of age she came to Guttenberg, and was married here on May 7th, 1862, to B. H. Pelzer, who preceded her in death fifteen years ago. She resided at Guttenberg until about 10 years ago, when she went to Dubuque to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Mollie Dietrich. Her death is deeply mourned by four daughters: Mrs. Frank Frommelt, of Dubuque; Mrs. Chas. Kircher, of Odebolt, Iowa; Mrs. Bernard J. Leli'eld and Mrs. W. H. Kann, of Guttenberg; three sons, Chas. Pelzer, of Salem, S.D.; Albert Pelzer, of Dubuque; and Larry Pelzer, of Odebolt; one brother, E. Kirch, of Birchwood, Wis., a number of grandchildren and many other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss her. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in this city, Monday morning, Rev. J. H. Brinkman officiating. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery. The funeral was very largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near, which showed that deceased was held in high esteem by all who knew her. She was a member of St. Ann's Society.
