Catherine Kann was born in Jefferson township, Clayton County, May 23rd, 1852, where she grew to womanhood, and died at her home in Read township, Monday, December 27th, 1915, past 63 years of age.

At Guttenberg on December 10th, 1872, she was united in marriage with Herman Schulte, and thirteen children were born to them, namely: Mrs. Elizabeth Fallon, Katie, Alvina, Agnes, Schlostica, Julita, at home; Mrs. Geo. Vorwald, Jefferson township; Edmund and Mrs. Wm. Vorwald, Volga township; and Joseph, of Oklahoma, while three children, Cordelia, Herman and Coletta, died in childhood.

Funeral services were held in Garnavillo, Thursday, December 30th, conducted by Rev. Father Raedler, and interment was made in the Catholic cemetery there. The pall bearers were six nephews, Gregor Uriell, Frank Uriell, Gregor Kann, Hugo Kann, Elmer Kann and Alfred Kann.

She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Wm. P. Uriell, and three brothers, J. J., H. W. and F. W. Kann; twenty grandchildren, other relatives and many friends, who mourn the departure of a faithful and loving wife and mother, and true friend. - Democrat.
