Mr. Hammond was quite prominent in the affairs of the town, being of the first of the commissioners when the town was incorporated and holding the office of councilman since the incorporation, which is almost twelve years ago. Besides his wife the following children are left to mourn his loss: Bert, at home; John, of Chester; Minnie and Rachel living on farms near Garber. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Klenniken, of near Colesburg, and Mrs. Kinton, of Coggon, and one brother, Omer, of Colesburg. Two brothers preceded him in death. The funeral was held at the residence on Friday, November 10th, and was attended by a large number of friends. Interment was in the Brown cemetery, Rev. Strather Hansel officiating.
