Word was received Monday from the Soldiers' Home at Marshalltown announcing the death of A. N. Clawson, a former resident of this place. A little less than a year ago his wife also passed away at the Soldiers' Home. The remains were brought here Tuesday evening via Lamont. Funeral services were held Wednesday. Interment was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.

Asa N. Clawson was born May 27, 1833 in Tompkin county, New York, and departed this life at Marshalltown, Iowa, November 13, 1916, at the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 13 days.
He leaves to mourn his death 4 children, Walter S. of Marshalltown, Charles of Monona, Mrs. Sarah Baxter of Michigan and Mrs. Bernice Clements of Montana and one sister Mrs. Maria Huntington of Corvalis, Oregon; besides several nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
His wife preceded him in death a few months, her death occurring December 29, 1915.
He was a veteran of the civil war enlisting in '63 at Angola, Indiana, and serving to the end of the war.
Funeral was held at the Lute Huntington home Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Rose of the M.E. church. Interment took place in Strawberry Point cemetery.
