--- --- --- ---

Geo. W. Pearson was born in the state of Maryland, Nov. 26th, 1823. He came to Iowa in 1839 and in 1851 was married to Maria Weber. Five children were born to them, three of whom are living.

He came to Hardin in 1867 where he has since resided. In 1868 he married Miss Julia Hunt, six children being the fruit of this union.

Mr. Pearson died Nov. 13th, 1899 at the age of 75 years 11 months and 14 days. All of his living children reached home before he died except one who lives in Omaha, she arrived after the funeral.

Mr. Pearson suffered intensely the last few days. His greatest desire was to see all the children once more. He was conscious until the last and expressed himself as ready to depart.

The funeral was largely attended and he was buried in the Ridley cemetery.

Mr. Pearson was Notary Public for many years and held many offices of trust. He will be greatly missed in this community, he always took sides on all public questions and was quite pronounced. He believed in the principles of Christianity and was trying to measure up to them as best he could.

Notes: George W. Pearson was my gg-grandfather. His parents Richard Pearson & Mary A. (Murch) Pearson are also buried in the Ridley cemetery, better known as the Grand Meadow cemetery. It is located in Clayton county, just south of the Allamakee/Clayton county border.
