Died, at her home in Strawberry Point on Wednesday morning, February 15th, 1911, Mrs. H. N. Wood, aged nearly seventy-six years. Mary J. Hanks was born in Greenwich, New York, on March 4th, 1835. When six years of age, with her parents, she removed to Centerville, Alleghany county, New York, where she resided till the fall of 1856. On October 21st, 1856, she was married to Harvey N. Wood, who survives her. They enjoyed a happy wedded life for more than fifty-four years. To this union were born two children: Dexter L. Wood, of Waterloo, Iowa; and Mrs. Alwilda M. Howard, of Strawberry Point. Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Wood located on a farm three miles south east of Strawberry Point. In 1863, they moved to Wakeman, Ohio, where they resided one year, when they returned to Iowa. With this exception they have been residents of Strawberry Point and vicinity since the autumn of 1856
