Mrs. Ann E. Deyo, mother of our fellow townsmen, George and E. J., who had been spending the winter with her daughter at Osage, died last Saturday after a short illness at the age of 85 years. Her body was brought here on Monday for interment. Owing to diphtheria being in the home where she died, one of the children suffering with the disease, public services could not be held. A short prayer was offered at the grave.

Ann E. Cole was born Dec. 26, 1825, in Steuben Co., N.Y. At the age of 11 years, with her parents, she moved to Erie, Pa. In 1836 they moved to Killbuck, Ogle Co., Ill.
In 1849 she was married to John H. Deyo. In 1852, Mr. and Mrs. Deyo moved to Strawberry Point, Ia.
There were born to them two sons G. B. and E. J. Deyo, both of Strawberry Point.
Since the death of her husband Feb. 3, 1908, she has spent her summers at her home in Strawberry Point and winters at Osage at the home of Mrs. Nettie Jerald, a niece, who knew no other mother, where she died Feb. 3, 1911, aged 85 years, 1 month and 7 days.
Her son George, who was with her the last days of her life, and Mrs. Jerald accompanied the remains home, where she was laid beside her husband. The W.C.T.U., of which she was a member, conducted their memorial service at the grave, closing with a prayer by Rev. T. A. Searcy, of the First Baptist church.
