Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 9 Feb. 1911. Elkport and Vicinity column.

On January 31st the angel of Death again came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Ortman in Elk township, and summoned little Marie Margaretha, aged 18 months and 13 days to meet her twin sister, Marjorie Mildred, who preceded her by but twelve days.

There are times along life's journey, when the sun of joy, of hope and of love beams along the path of two hearts who are loving man and wife; times, when it seems as if clouds could not appear and would not be seen either at dawn nor at the twilight hour.

We have in mind the journey of life of Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Ortman. There came to their home a winsome little lassie, whose laughter and prattle made glad the hearts of these parents.

Again was there gladness and joy, double joy, when two years later, two little ones made their appearance as twin-sisters in this home.

The clouds though unseen, were moving slowly, but surely, toward the horizon at the close of the old year (1910) and on the second day of the new year, Jan. 2, 1911, the soul of the one grandpa, Henry Lindenberg, Sr., took its flight from earth to that great beyond realm from whence no traveler has yet returned. Nearer and a little faster, another cloud bore down upon this home, and the dread angel came and took the twin also. This was on Jan. 19. Darker and still yet darker drifted the clouds, and on Jan. 31, at 10:30 a.m., the soul of the other twin was also carried to Him who said "Suffer little children to come unto me, for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven". Truly the ones who loved them so dearly here on earth, are heartbroken.

The funeral was conducted from the house to the cemetery by Rev. Linnenberger and many sorrowing relatives and friends, whose hearts ached in sympathy at the thoughts of this triple sorrow in the new year in the same hearth and home. The text chosen by the Rev. Gentleman was a portion of the Lord's prayer, viz.; "Thy Will be done."

Beautiful flowers covered the casket, which was tenderly borne to the grave in the Musfeldt cemetery by the Misses Bertha Wentz, Emma Jaster, Mabel Beeh and Eleonora Beck.
