On Thursday morning at 3:30 o'clock, Feb. 2, 1911, occurred the death of Mrs. Isabel Crefeld at her home at Clayton. She had been a constant sufferer for the past nine months of dropsy, although everything was done that medical aid could do and with the best of care none seemed to give her relief. She was a woman of excellent character and habits, upright in all things and was possessed of a happy, sunny disposition.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral of Grandma Crefeld were: Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Pesch, of Blue Island; Mrs. McCabe, of Waukon; Mrs. Wm. Schumacher, Sr., and son Will, Mrs. Chas Adams and son, of Guttenberg; Mrs. Rinkert, of Volga City; and Mrs. John Kuempel, of Guttenberg.

Isabella was also known as Elizabeth Margaret Ruckdaschel. Her first husband was John Paul Poesch with whom she had five sons in Germany, John, Henry, William, Christian and George. All died in Clayton.
Her second husband was Herbert Crefeld whom she married in 1868 in Iowa. Their children were Charles and Mary. She was born 24 Apr 1832 in Weissenstadt, Bavaria, Germany, and died 02 Feb 1911 in Clayton, Clayton County, Iowa.
