Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 24 Aug. 1911. Elkport and Vicinity column.
Mrs. Elias Hall was born in New York 80 years ago. She came to Iowa in the early days and for 54 years her happy life was spent on the farm. She joined the church very young and was a staunch and faithful member of same until her eyes closed in death. A short time before her death she suffered a touch of paralysis and God in his mercy and goodness did not allow her to suffer long. For a long time she had been gradually passing away. It was always a happy time at the meetings of the L.A.S. and the L.C.A., when her dear smile and voice could be seen and heard. Of the L.C.A. she was the senior member, at least of those who live near here, to attend the meetings. It did one good to be near her, for one felt that deceit had no abiding place there. She gradually faded away. It was a beautiful life and an example of love and devotion. May we follow her example. She died on Friday, Aug. 18th, at the home of her daughter Nettie, and son-in-law, Frank Dennis, where she will be missed, but we know that her undying love and blessing will ever be with them, accordingly as they dealt with her. She was placed beside the grave of her husband in the Mt. Harmony Cemetery on Sunday, Aug. 20, 1911. Revs. Hearsh and Hansel officiating. The Mt. Harmony choir rendered the beautiful hymns at the house and grave and the L.C.A. led the procession in a body from the home.
(Note: WPA records indicate this obit is a reference to Roxanna Hall, 1830 - 17 Aug. 1911, buried in Mt. Harmony Cemetery.)
