Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 3 Aug. 1911. Farmersburg column.
The body of Simon Huntington, who was the first settler in Windsor - now Farmersburg - was brought here for burial on Wednesday by his two sons, E. C. and C. K. Huntington. Mr. Huntington died at Windom, Minn., where he had lived for 41 years., on Sunday, July 23d, a complication of troubles, among which was urainnia. He was taken suddenly sick on the 11th, falling while out on his lawn. He was never conscious afterward and during most of the succeeding time was in such delirious condition as to require the services of two or three people to keep him in bed. Mr. Huntington was almost 86 years of age and is survived by his aged wife and the two sons above named. He built the old house on the north corner of which is now main street, in 1857 and lived there several years, and the old cottonwood tree near it was planted by E. C. Huntington when he was about seven years old. Mrs. Huntington cannot long survive and may be brought here for burial any day. E. C. Huntington is at present in the employ of the state of Minnesota in connection with the state university and is interested largely in the First National Bank of Windom. C. K. Huntington is one of the leading life insurance men in Nebraska with headquarters at Lincoln.
