Mrs. Klinge the wife of F. Klinge, Sr., was born February 26, 1829 in Laupin, Mecklenberg-Schwerin, Germany. She was married Nov. 12th, 1850, immigrated in 1871 and lived near Farmersburg up to abut two years ago, when she moved with her son Henry and his family to Monona.
In spite of her old age she was comparatively strong up to a little more than 6 weeks ago, when she had to remain in bed. While her mind was clear until almost the very last, the strength of her life decreased steadily until her eyes closed in death last Wednesday morning, July 20th at about 9:30.
She is the mother of 97 descendants: seven children, 43 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. One of her children died in infancy, another departed from this life at the age of 67, when her mother was 90 years old, Mrs. G. Aulerich, Sr.
Early in January of the year 1906 she lost her husband, who had attained the age of almost 81, leaving her a widow 77 years old.
She is survived by the children: Mrs. Gehrke, Postville; her two sons Fred and Henry, Monona; the Mrs. Elisabeth Becker and Friederika Jahn, both of Plymouth County, Iowa.
Born of Lutheran parents and instructed in the Word of God by the Lutheran church, she attended the services of the Evangelical Lutheran St. Paul's Church of Monona and received Holy Communion for the last time but a few weeks before her departure. She attained to an age of 92 years, 4 months and 24 days.
[following the above were quoted several Bible verses: Job 5 26, Eph 6 1-3, Ps 91:16 & Prov 16 31; they were not transcribed]
~Monona Leader, July 28, 1921
Note: Her maiden name is from the Death Certificate of her son Fred who died in 1926. Burial is in Zion Lutheran cemetery, Clayton Center.
