Katie O'Day was born in Lodomillo township, Clayton County, Iowa, on the 22nd day of September, A.D. 1878, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Thomas D. Shriver, on the 28th day of June, 1899. They immediately took up their residence on the old Shriver homestead, in Putman township, Fayette County, Iowa, where they lived until a few weeks ago, when on account of her failing health they moved to Strawberry Point, where she died October 16th, 1911, at the age of 33 years and 24 days. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and four children: Beulah, aged 11 years, Leo, aged 9 years, Donna, aged 7 years, and Raymond, aged 5 years, besides her father, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were conducted by Father Hartigan in St. Mary's Catholic church, Wednesday, October 18, at ten o'clock, after which the body was laid to rest in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
