Elizabeth Marguerita Halleroth was born in Germany December 2, 1854, and died at her home five and one-half miles southeast of Strawberry Point, December 13, 1911, of heart trouble. Mrs. Rippen contracted a cold and lagrippe last winter, from which she never entirely recovered, and had been in poor health the greater part of the time for the past year. She came to this country in 1882 and located at Monticello. The following year she was united in marriage to Gerrit Harms Rippen. To this union were born two children, Mrs. Grace Schepker and Fred Rippen, both of whom were with their mother when she died. Her husband died July 16, 1901. The funeral services were held at the German Lutheran church, of which she was a faithful member, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Graf. Interment took place in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
