Joachim Henry Christian Possehl.
Christ. Possehl, as he was best known, died Monday, Dec. 25th, at his home in Cox Creek township, near Mederville, aged 61 years, 5 months and 3 days. He had been in poor health for some time.
He was born in Hohwisch, Germany, July 22nd, 1850, and when about twenty-five years of age came to this country with his mother and a sister. Four sisters and a brother had preceded them.
Mr. Possehl lived on a farm in Ohio for a number of years and in 1879 was married to Elizabeth Camph. Coming west about thirty years ago they settled in Clayton county, finally locating in Cox Creek township. Mr. Possehl is survived by his wife and five children: Wm. of Osborne; Henry, of Cox Creek township; Mrs. John Bente, of Elkader; Mrs. Geo. Rinkert, of Mederville; and Otto at home. Two children preceded their father in death.
Other relatives who mourn are three sisters and one brother in Ohio and a sister, Mrs. Frank, of Clayton Center, together with seven grandchildren and a large circle of friends and neighbors.
The funeral services were held from the home this morning the remains being brought to the German church here and then taken to Clayton Center for interment. They were conducted by Rev. Franke and were largely attended. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved family and friends.
