Miss Martha Walter, who had been a sufferer for some time with that dread disease, consumption, passed away at the home of her mother, Mrs. Christine Walter, in this city, on Tuesday evening at 9 o'clock, at the age of 24 years, 1 month and 13 days. She was born at Osterdock, Iowa, on October 30, 1887, and came to Guttenberg with her parents in 1899, where she resided until her death. She leaves to mourn her untimely death her mother, one brother, Fred Walter, two sisters, Misses Anna and Christine Walter, all of Guttenberg; also a large circle of relatives and friends. The funeral services were held at the Lutheran church on Friday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock. Interment in St. John's cemetery, Rev. Janzig officiating.
