Mrs. Peter Nichols died at the home of her brother, Peter Thompson, on Sunday afternoon, after a lingering illness of several years. Deceased was born on March 18, 1826, in Halstein, Germany. In 1853 she was united in marriage to Peter Nichols, with whom she came to America in 1867 and settled at Garnavillo, which has since been their home. Her husband's death occurred in 1904. Having no children of her own, she gave a mother's care to three children: Mrs. Hannah Hartwig, of Earlville; Mrs. Mary Kuehner, of Potosi, Wis., and Lizzie Kranbeer, who died at Luana about four years ago. Funeral services were held at St. Paul's church on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Braun officiating.
