Clayton County Register, Thur., 9 Dec. 1926.
Frank Moore, aged thirty-six, was found dead about 8 o'clock last night in a cave near the Milwaukee railroad track, about a mile east of Lima. A still was in the cave where the body was found, and the physician who was called gave suffocation as the cause of death.
Mr. Moore, a single man, was employed as farm hand by Ralph Gage, who lives a mile east of Lima, and had been so employed ever since coming to the Lima vicinity from McGregor about a year ago. Aside from his reported connection with moonshine traffic Moore was not ill thought of in that locality.
The body was found by Mr. Moore's employer, Mr. Gage, who went in search of his employee when the latter did not return home. Finding the body, Mr. Gage called Dr. Wood of Wadena, who pronounced the man dead.
The body was taken to the undertaking rooms at Fayette, where it remains, as no plans for the funeral have been made, pending an effort to locate Moore's relatives.
The county authorities were not notified till this forenoon. Sheriff Wright, County Attorney Layton, and Coroner Smittle went to Lima this forenoon to look into all the circumstances connected with Mr. Moore's death.
