Clayton County Register, Thur., 4 Nov. 1926.

Wilhelmina Marie (Schultse) Storbeck died at her home here Monday, November 1, 1926, at 12:40 a.m., after an illness of twelve days, at the age of sixty-five years, four months and 11 days. Deceased was born June 22, 1861, at Lindenberg, Ziehausen, Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schultse, and was united in marriage at that place February 11, 1887, with Henry Storbeck, who survives.

To this union five children were born, three sons and two daughters, one son, however preceded the mother in death in infancy. Those who survive are August and William, residing on farms in this township, and Mrs. Freda Eggimann and Mrs. Elsie Felker, residing on farms in Wagner township. Nine grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held from the home this afternoon at 1:30 and the Evangelical church at 2:00, with Rev. C. H. Franke officiating. Interment was made in the East Side Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Storbeck came to this country in the year 1891, and on September 8th of that year arrived here, going at once to Clayton Center, where they resided for about eighteen months. They then returned to Boardman township and lived on two different farms, one now the home of August Storbeck and family and the other the home of Wm. Storbeck and family.

Having toiled faithfully for many years the couple retired from active farm work in 1913 and came to make Elkader their home, here, as it was hoped, to enjoy life. In 1911, however, Mrs. Storbeck suffered the affliction of losing her eyesight. She was taken to various hospitals and submitted to two operations, in fact everything that could be done for her was done, (several words blurred) was a type of German mother who will always be remembered for the manner in which she bore her affliction. Never complaining and always active up to her very last illness. Mrs. Storbeck was the kind of mother who will be missed equally by the husband and grandchildren as well as by the children.

Her children and the husband gave her every comfort possible and aided her in every way to make her path easier; it was this splendid feeling of parent and children that has made the parting so hard. The survivors, however, now are assured that she has been relieved of her suffering and that her burdens are no more.

The following verse was one always dear to her:

Ich Moechte heim ! Mich Ziehts dom
Vaterhause,
Dem treuen Vaterherzen Zu:
Fort aus der Welt verworrenem
Gebrause,
Zur stillen, tiefen Ruh !
Mit tausend Wuenschen bin ich
ausgegangen,
Heim kehr ich mit bescheidenem
Verlangen,
Noch hegt mein Herz nur einer
Hoff_ung Keim.
Ich moechte heim !
