The funeral of John Cassutt, who met death at Waterloo on October 24th, was held here on Friday afternoon, services being conducted at the Cassutt home by Rev. K. Wm. Braun of Garnavillo. The body was laid to rest in the city cemetery. Deceased was born at Elkader, Iowa, on May 2, 1885, and therefore was 41 years, five months and 22 days of age when called by death. When a child he came to Guttenberg, Iowa, with his parents to reside, where the remainder of his life was spent. He was married at Guttenberg on November 2, 1894, to Miss Augusta Fredelake. He is survived by his widow, seven children, Mrs. Myrtle Smith of Dubuque, Wallace, Eleanor, Beatrice, Ivanelle, Elizabeth and Lorraine, all at home. His mother, Mrs. Thomas Cassutt of Guttenberg, three brothers, Rudolph of Buehl, Idaho; Thomas and Clarence of Duluth, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. Mayme Anderegg of Lansing, Mrs. Leo Flaherty of Garber, and Mrs. Henry Kramer, of Buehl, Idaho; two grandchildren and many other relatives.
