Clayton County Register, Thur., 28 Oct. 1926.

Lela Marie Elizabeth Geno, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Geno passed away at her home here Monday morning, Oct. 25, following an illness of about four years.

Lela was born February __, ____, and thus at the time of her death had reached the age of twenty-nine years, eight months and twenty-three days.

Her father preceded her in death in 1924 and her mother in 1920. She is survived by one brother, Albert, and three sisters, Goldie, Irene and Norma, all at home.

Following the death of her mother Lela kept house for the family and was largely responsible for keeping the family together. Although never a strong person she performed her duties in the home with a cheerfulness that was characteristic of her. However, when her health failed four years ago she had to leave the home and in March 1922 she entered Sunny Crest hospital at Dubuque.

Here her determination to win back health was a strong one but slowly, and surely she failed. This summer her brother and sisters brought her back to the home here and the end came quietly early Monday morning.

Her passing is a cause for sorrow in this fatherless and motherless family but the thought of relief from suffering softens the sting of death.

The deepest sympathy of the entire community goes out to those remaining.

Simple funeral services were held at the late home this afternoon and the remains were taken to Strawberry Point for final interment, where mother and father lie buried. Rev. C. H. Franke of the Evangelical church conducted the services here and at the grave.
