Clayton County Register, Thur., 21 Oct. 1926. Strawberry Point column.
The funeral services of Mrs. Anna Miller, aged 88 years, occurred last Thursday afternoon at the Lutheran church conducted by the pastor Rev. Jahr. Interment took place in our beautiful cemetery. Mrs. Miller, one of Clayton county's pioneers, was born in Germany, coming to this country at the age of 25 years. When she arrived in New York City, she was united in marriage to Franz Miller. The young couple came to Strawberry Point and settled on a farm north of town now owned by Wm. Halstad. They were not surrounded by the luxuries of today but drove an oxen team and endured the hardships of real pioneers, but theirs was a happy life. Mr. Miller preceded her in death four years ago. Since that time she has made her home among the children. For a number of years she has been deaf and blind but bore these afflictions as patiently as could be. Her last days were spent at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Bartels, who devotedly cared for her until the angel of death called the dear mother home to rest. She leaves four daughters and one son: Mrs. O. Fre_he_t of Riceville, Minn.; Mrs. Henry Bartels and Mrs. Phin Weig of this place; Mrs. Clyde Lawrence of Dundee; and Fred Miller of this place, besides other relatives and friends to mourn her loss.
