Martha Bagby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Davis Bagby, was born on the farm, December 2, 1855, where she departed this life September 17, 1926, at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 15 days. She spent her entire life on the home place. On March 9, 1882, she was united in marriage to John Garretson. To this union were born four children, William of Masonville, Fanny Hansel of Garber, and Cleveland of Garber, Davis having preceded her in death. Mr. Garretson passed away February 9, 1923.

She was converted and joined the Methodist church. Afterwards she joined the United Brethren church. She has been a great sufferer and has been confined to her bed for nearly a year, but her faith in God never failed her. She leaves to mourn her death, three children, four grandchildren, and many friends. She has been a faithful mother, a devout Christian, and a good neighbor.

Funeral services were held at the home, Rev. Hollingshead officiating. Interment was made in Brown cemetery.
